If
you look up Traditional Country Music in the
dictionary, you would find the name Jeff
Whitlow right there, along with Merle
Haggard, George Jones, Vern Gosdin, &
Johnny Cash. With his delightfully strong,
baritone, country voice, he has attained
much respect from across the country in the
last few years. Whether he is singing a
Merle Haggard ballad, or lightning fast tune
from George Jones, the results are always
the same. You get an extremely fascinated
crowd, which just can't keep from clapping
their hands, or tapping their toes to the
pounding traditional country beat.
His
newest project for 2010, just completed and
titled "My Originals & More"
contains six original tunes, written by Jeff
and a few close writing buddies. The songs
cover many different topics.
After getting the opportunity to meet, and
spend some time with The Voice of country
music, Mr.Vern Gosdin, Jeff was inspired to
write a tribute song for him, after his
death in 2009. This song titled "Thank
You Vern Gosdin", has already became a
crowd favorite, and made its mark on country
radio.
It
also includes a song about Jeff's mom, who
passed away from cancer. This one titled
"Momma's Eye's", will touch your
heart, especially if you have lost someone
to this terrible disease.
Throw in a snappy tune about the "Grand
Old Opry, Ain't So Grand Anymore", and
real catchy one titled "Brightest Part
Of the Day", which was written after a
gloomy day turned bright and beautiful with
a full moon by bedtime, and you got a great
listening experience.
All are receiving great response from
country radio and from Traditional country
music fans all over the country.
Jeff loves all the Old Country Music of the
greats such as George Jones, Merle Haggard,
Conway Twitty, Vern Gosdin, Johnny Cash and
others, and his shows include many hits from
each of them, as well as his original
material.
Alabama Governor Bob Riley became a fan in
2006, after Jeff wrote a song for his
re-election campaign titled, "Headin'
To Montgomery Again" This song got him an invitation to
perform at the Governors Mansion on January
12, 2007 for Governor Riley's Inaugural
Kick-Off Boots & Bar-B-Q Party.
Jeff and his
"Old Barn Band" have had the
opportunity to share the stage with many of
country music's greatest, including George
Jones, Charlie Daniels, Larry Gatlin, Aaron
Tippin, Sammy Kershaw, Billy Joe Royal, and
more.
